The 2026 edition of the biennial EuChemS conference will be organized by the Royal Flemish Chemical Society (KVCV). ‘Antwerp is Europe’s leading chemistry hub.’
The Royal Flemish Chemical Society (KVCV) is granted the honour of organizing the EuChemS Chemistry Congress (ECC) in 2026. Antwerp has been chosen as the host city, says KVCV president Christophe De Bie. ‘Antwerp is Europe’s leading chemistry hub. Together, the port of Antwerp and the surrounding area even form the most diverse chemistry cluster in the world.’
The city offers more than just chemistry, De Bie adds. ‘It is a lively, welcoming and multicultural city that is easy to reach from all over Europe. And let’s not forget Belgian gastronomy…’
’The large variety in topics makes the congress relevant for every chemist’
Plenty of reasons to visit Antwerp, but why is ECC a must-go event? ‘The EuChemS Chemistry Congress is where renowned chemists and young, motivated talents meet each other. The interdisciplinary character stimulates new connections and creates an atmosphere where new ideas from surprising angles emerge. The large variety in topics makes the congress relevant for every chemist.’
It’s still too early to share details on the programme, says De Bie. ‘The KVCV will collaborate with EuChemS and its divisions and working parties to create an attractive scientific and social programme.’
The next EuChemS Chemistry Congress will take place from July 7-11, 2024 in Dublin.
